Join YCLM for our second tour of the Manitoba Hydro Construction Division Office, a single office being constructed to house the multiple construction groups operating within Manitoba Hydro. The building area is approximately 2,450 square metres, with a gross floor area of 6,680 square metres. Spaces within the new building include workstations, work rooms, focus rooms/pods, hoteling stations, meeting rooms, a field locker room, kitchenettes, fitness room, workshop and storage. All of these program elements are encapsulated in an aesthetically pleasing mix of exposed steel and heavy timber construction.
The building has a specific focus on energy efficiency and flexibility, and incorporates a multitude of natural materials and lighting throughout the space enhance the end users overall experience. The project utilizes a dowel laminated timber roof system, fir glulam beams and exposed steel structural elements with a mix of insulated metal panel and aluminum curtainwall glazing. The building also features an upper storey mechanical penthouse that houses the majority of the building’s mechanical and electrical systems.
For our second tour of this project, the building will be nearing substantial completion, with finishes in place and system commissioning nearly complete.
Following the tour, we’ll be heading to a nearby restaurant or lounge (TBD) for appetizers, drinks and networking.
