WARNING - Workforce Shortage Ahead!
Construction is the second largest employer in the country, but we are facing a workforce crisis that is forecasted to worsen in the next three years. 87 per cent of construction employers report having a hard time filling key professional and craft worker positions. Effective workforce development strategies require that contractors attract, educate and retain a diverse workforce.
Join YCLM and one of WCA’s Rockstar Facilitators, Stephane McShane, for a session to help you learn best practices in workforce development that will allow you to contribute to local and national efforts to recruit the best and brightest for high-tech construction industry careers.
In this session you’ll learn to:
• Identify new strategies to meet the K-12 challenge of "attracting today's youth"
• Provide options to engage both young adults in college and those that are under or unemployed
• Understand the importance of building a diverse workforce
• Learn about veteran employment programs that fit the construction industry
• Review Federal initiatives that support construction industry training programs
