OETIM’s new training facility project includes the construction of one medium-sized combined prefabricated structural insulation panel and standard steel building. The structure spans 6,900 square feet and will combine the spaces of OETIM’s new dedicated education and classroom building as well as the organization’s newly centralized administrative areas. The educational space is divided in a shop area for heavy equipment demonstration and hoisting exercises, and in the educational area featuring two classrooms and a lab space for equipment simulators. The administrative area includes staff offices and break room, a student lunchroom, as well as the main lobby and reception area.
Some of the highlights of the project are the use of Insulated Composite Envelope (ICE) panel used as support for the steel joists and Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) roofing system. The unique manufacturing process and connection details eliminate thermal bridging, making it the most efficient building envelope available on the market. At the stage of the tour you will be able to see the ICE panel construction details at varying states of completion, landed panels to nearly finished shear walls.
An interesting aspect of the project delivery methodology, the project team is one of the first in Manitoba to leverage the CCDC 30 – Integrated Project Delivery Contract. This brought stakeholders together from the onset of the project and leveraged a novel blend of procurement criteria and design flexibility to support the achievement of mutually agreed project objectives. The tour will be led by representatives from the client, design team and general contractor discussing the unique aspects of how the IPD process contrasted with more typical project delivery methods.
